How to use it

  1. Pick a format. 1600 × 900 is the safe choice; 1080 × 1350 takes up more of the phone screen.
  2. Type the line you want on the image. Short works best: one idea, under about 25 words.
  3. Choose a background preset and shuffle until the text sits on a calm area. Add a dark or light card behind the text if the background is busy.
  4. Leave "Keep text inside the 16:9 crop" on unless you know your image will only be seen full size.
  5. Write the caption, watch the counter, copy it, and download the PNG.

What the guides mean

The pink band marks what falls outside a centered 16:9 crop. That's the tightest crop a single image commonly gets in timelines, previews and embeds, so anything inside the band stays visible. The yellow box shows roughly how much survives when the image is one of two in the same post, where each tile is close to 7:8. The dotted edge margin is a reminder that rounded corners and overlays eat a few pixels at the edges.

The guides are drawn on the preview only. The PNG you download is clean.

Why this is different from a header maker

Header and profile tools make the 1500 × 500 banner at the top of your profile. This one makes the images that go inside posts, which have different shapes and get cropped in different ways. If you want a header, that's a separate job.

Questions

Which format should I pick?

Use 1600 × 900 when you want the image to look the same everywhere, including link previews and embeds. Use 1080 × 1350 when you want more height in the mobile timeline. Use 1200 × 1200 for a balanced square that also works on other networks.

Why keep text inside the 16:9 crop?

Taller images are often shown in full on the X apps, but some views still crop them to a wider frame, such as multi-image grids, some embeds and older clients. Text inside the 16:9 band survives all of them.

How does the character counter work?

It follows the public counting rules X uses for posts: most Latin letters, digits and punctuation count as one, Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters and most emoji count as two, and any link counts as 23 no matter how long it is. Some complex emoji sequences may count slightly differently in the app.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Text, image and caption stay in your browser. The download is generated on your device.
